Your God is claimed to be omnipotent (that means ALL POWERFUL) and omniscient, yet chose to "designed" a world of blood and guts. It would not be difficult at all for an all powerful 5th grader to beat this "design". You want it both ways. What makes you think that the bible was 'inspired' by god? What about the Book of Mormon or the Hindu Vedas or Islam's Koran? Were they all inspired by god(s) as well? If not, how did you determine that the bible was, but the other religious texts were not?

What do you take it to mean when it says "the heavens" when the context is dealing with the changing of earth from a dark wet planet to the upcoming narrative? I take it to be describing the universe and its contents, including stars, solar systems and galaxies, specifically mentioning "the earth" in its form, thereby setting the stage for the description of what is being done to the earth in the next verses.

no, the anger comes from giving a logical argument and the believer, whom likely is very intelligent and accomplished, refuses logic when it comes to god. I'm not referring to god's existence, either. I'm referring to the stories of the bible. The only sensible and logical answer to the bible is that they are teaching stories. When a believer starts rationalizing murder and genocide and rape and slavery, etc that gets me angry
